Even When You Compare Those Two Men To Our President... They both did way more than bush could have accomplished if he would have their chance of rein for that amount of years... i dont believe either were evil for the fact that each one had followers , so to them he was a god like figure. each one dropped their country's unemployment rate by over 80% (re-vived their economy) what has bush done for us? lol

Both men were evil. Hitler is the more obvious: promotion of racism, holocaust, tried to rule the planet, etc, etc.
Mussolini, on the other hand, was evil for much different reasons. He was evil because he was an opportunist. He turned a country into a fascist police state, one of the most oppressive societies a person can live in, and made a deal with the devil (I.E Hitler) in order to achieve personal gain. The countries they lived in were destroyed by society, and thus when evil entered them it quickly and effectively gain followers.

First we need to define "Evil" and "Great" and establish whether the two are mutually exclusive. Can you be great and evil?
""Evil" - having bad natural qualities; bad; ill; harmful; hurtful; disagreeable; vicious; corrupt; wicked; calamitous"
""Great" - significant, admirable"
Some of the policies that Hitler and Mussolini were involved in did cause harmful and hurtful effects for some that could perhaps be catergorised as being evil.
However where one person will suffer some one else will always benefit. All actions will always have an equal or opposite reaction. Although many people suffered due to the politics of Hitler and Mussolini many people gained. Think of all the SS and army figures who may have got promotion or politicians that will have benefitted at their side?
In defining evil as having bad natural qualities neither Mussolini or Hitler were evil because they both believed that what they were doing was for the good of their countries and for the good of the people. Both men had followers who admired them.
Without going into too much detail Hitler's role in worldwide politics, ideolgy, literature and of course world war 2 which has in turn effected the world economically and socially. Hitler can certainly be labelled "Great". His actions and there impact were significant.
To a lesser extent Mussolini will also therefore be defined as great however Mussolini's greatness was always going to be limited because of the power of the Church in Italy. He couldn't compete with pope!
Whether Hitler and Mussolini were great in terms of being admirable they both had strong following. Hitler was a great orator and had a larger following than Mussolini which again would make him the greater.
This is a subjective question and will always receive a subjective answer!

I don't know much of Mussolini, but Hitler is another story.
In a word, Hitler was brilliant. He knew exactly how to get the attention of his followers and how to gain popularity. But then, he treated them like dirt. His greatest ability was speach making. He was very charismatic and could will the masses to eat up every word he said like it was the most enjoyable meal ever. In short, he was a demogague. But, he was also power hungry. He couldn't get enough of it. As far as military strategy goes, Hitler was horrible. His advisors were better at that sort of thing. Hitler was the one who got the support and decided what he wanted and how it should be done. He didn't carry it out all that well.
Hitler was evil. He thought Jews, Catholics, the handicapped, and other select groups were inferior. He wanted them to be exterminated and for the perfect Aryan race to be lifted high. He called for the mass killing of millions of people and felt no shame in what he did. His followers were just as evil as he, for they killed for him and did not oppose him. Those who did, were killed as well.
I do believe that Hitler was a very interesting man and that his thoughts are worthy of consideration and contemplation, but the fact of what he did and how he felt makes him evil.

There really are some big gaps in your knowledge.
Both men were aggressive dictatators responsible for many atrocities.
The revival of the german economy was unsustainable and only achievable by putting the country on a path to war.
Hitler's time of power only lasted twelve years but the damage he did is still being felt.

Both men were failed leaders. Hitler's "Thousand -Year Reich" barely lasted 12 years. Mussolini's "New Roman Empire" barely lasted 20 years. When you compare their "Empires" to the Chinese, English, or Greeks - they are not "great men" at all.
