When you wake up tommorow China could be the leading world power instead of America. China has the fastest growing economy in the world right now, the largest armed forces (man-power wise) and is catching up to the US technology wise (ie they are beginning to develop there own scientific ideas instead of stealing/ adapting Russian tech). However the political situation in China is quite unclear, still keeping some communist policies while allowing more free trade. Without a more defined political home base China will never be a true world power. Overcrowding and insanely uneven wealth distrubution could also lead to unstability.
Military wise China also lacks one thing, which is called a "blue water navy". While this phrase is notoriously unclear it simply means having a navy that can operate pretty much anywhere in the world. EXAMPLE: America has 6 carrier strike groups ready to be deployed at any given time, with 2 more in reserve. China as far as we know lacks any such force but this could easily change almost overnight as they have been spending a lot more on military and developing such a fleet recently.

India maintains the third largest military in the world. It has major economic issues such as wealth distrubution and under development in many areas (while other areas are developed as any american city).

These two emerging superpowers however don't seem to have any vision for the world, unless india becomes the US of the past promoting democracy and China promoting the faux-communism/socialism they have going on. If such a conflict were to arise one would end up as a world power.

Both countries are already strong regional powers and are likely to continue.

I don't think there's going to be an 'after' America - But I can surely see Russia, China, and India joining us in the World Power role. The US is already pursuing very close relations with India and although conflict with China seems likely, working with them as well.

Russia and the US may yet become the good friends I hope we become - I think we have a lot in common.

China has chances of becoming the world power, But Not india, India still has a long way to go. they have to fight the poverty in their country first.........Even today 2 millions people sleep on footpaths just in Mombay !and have no shelter they economy is growing very fast and they can achieve the target provided the present governament should given a chance to show themselves for some more years !.....they still need much time to come to that level..

i imagine united states will stay as a superpower for a at the same time as, yet there has been a communique about secession for the state of Texas. If Texas receives seceded from the U. S., the dignity of the U. S. will be lengthy gone perpetually. How can China be the subsequent superpower if human rights are being abused there? if you're speaking about "monetary" superpower, it truly is wise. not straightforward to foretell who might want to be the subsequent international's superpower, yet there is someone down there attempting to ax a tree. that's Taliban, Al-Qaeda, ETA, and different terrorist communities. they're some style of a clean ailment that forestalls a rustic from coming up as a superpower. i imagine there'll be no superpower after united states, and those terrorist communities favor to be eliminated earlier we see yet another superpower.

Don't know about India, but China is well on its way. That is their main goal and they don't care who they have to go through to achieve it.

Their top general wrote a book stating they wanted a war with the USA as soon as possible and even described how they would win it. So don't believe the lies that they are our good friends. We only prostitute ourselves for the money.
