i smoked for 14 years and gave up-cold turkey.
firtsly you have to really want to give up, not just know you should quit, but really want to stop. then
i think you need that "slap in the face" not literally
like a health scare or something that makes you say
"whoa i really need to quit"
patches are a good help but are just prolonging it
there are chewing gums and spays out there that all work in the same way. Absorbed through the mouth into the brain which gives that little bit of a high you get from smoking but i found they didnt help as it was my mouth that craved for the smoke the most.
anyway goodluck and be patient, quiting is very hard

Wellbutrin is very good and if you can get doc to say it to treat depression it will be covered by most medical plans you only need to take it for about 4-6 weeks and all done

for first 2 weeks you smoke to your hearts content then on the set day none never to smoke again

I smoked for Thirty years, I tried patch's, pills, voodoo, and anything else I could find to help me quit smoking ( IT SO VERY HARD) The only thing that worked for me was cold turkey, every minute was so hard that I knew I did not want to go through it again, on Jan 9 I had not had 1 cigarette for one year and I am still smoke free. Give him your love and support.
I hope for the best.

I heard somewhere, if you cut a sliver off of a cinnamon stick, and place it in one of his cigarettes, once he hits it, it will make him so sick, he will never want another one. That is what I heard, and I have never had the guts to try it. So needless to say, I can not quit yet either. I tried the patches, but I could not keep them lit. LOL But seriously,,, Good Luck.

There's a book on the bestseller list in the UK about this.

If someone here can think of the title that would be great.

Anyway, it has a very high success rate for people who want to stop smoking.

Perhaps a doctor should be consulted, a lot of the newer products tend to mention side effects.

Get some chewing tobacco called Snus. It's popular in Sweden and Norway. It doesn't cause oral cancer because it's steam cured or something like that.
