On the surface, you could say it's not a good idea and that these girls more than ever need an education if they are going to be supporting a child for the next 18 years. However, if you look at it from a liability standpoint, I can see where the principal might be coming from. Liability is a huge issue these days and if something happened in school that caused her or the baby injury, the school could be held liable for it. Even if they were determined by a judge not to have been liable, they would still incur the cost of defending themselves in the lawsuit. So from that standpoint, it would make sense.

Well thats ridiculous! First of all, as a principal she should be offering education... not taking it away. If she's worried about her students engaging in unprotected sex that result in under-aged pregnancies... maybe she should offer better sexual education programs to prevent that. Taking away education from young mothers is also wrong. If a girl has chosen to keep her child and has a strong support system which allows her to continue her education...then there is no reason she shouldn't. Your principal is being ridiculous and selfish. It seems to me as though she is more interested in the school's identity than her students.

Its a horrible idea, pregnant girls need the education the most, to be able to get a good job, and provide for there children, plus it's a public school, and i don't think that they can do that. but i might be wrong,
Either way its a BAD idea. when i was in high school, i had 2 girls in the grade younger than me that were pregnant and they were in school up until they had the babies, ( they also had bfs that stayed around). and one came every day unless their son had a dr. appointment.
so its a BAD BAD idea!!

This is a outrage. She can't do that it is not up to her. What happens if one of her kids or grand kids gets pregnant while she under-aged what she going to be a hypocrite . All of the students including you have the right speak up about it. all of you have a voice and a parent all of you to go to the board of education because she abusing her power as a principal. She start a big problem in your town and in the newspapers.

actually she could do it. they have special school for pregnant teens, but it sure as hell isnt right, Its none of their business if she is pregnant, If shes pregnant, tell her to lie and say shes got gastritis, until she has her baby. Not that I think teen pregnancy is awesome or anything. But I still dont think that they should be denied an equal education because of it, if anything, they need their education even more than the other students.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Not only does this deny the poor girl her education, which she desperately needs more now than ever, it also created shame for her in an already uncomfortable situation and rewards abortion, this is not fair to those who do not believe in it. I cant believe this will ever come about, it violates too many of our constitutional rights and the school system will get thier butts sued off. This is pure discrimination and punishment for the poor girl who is probably already suffering.

No, and if it is a public school I'm betting it isn't legal, either. Everyone deserves access to education and it is mandatory under a certain age--pregnant or not--anyway.
