Brest Implants and Mammograms?

A topic came up earlier today about Mammograms, and then women with Breast Implants getting Mammograms, Can they? Would the Implant bust? How would they check for any promblems in the breast after the implant is in IF they could not get a mammogram with an implant? Any one have any personal stories?

My mom's a mammographer. She and I both have implants. They CAN do mammograms with implants... she does them everyday. They take 8 views instead of 4. 4 of them include the implant, but with no compression. The other 4 are with the implant pushed back and only the natural tissue is pulled forward onto the plate. The implants never rupture because they are never compressed. Only a very small amount of breast tissue can be obscured by the implant, so the mammogram is still very effective at detecting any cancer.

Women still get mammograms with implants, and the chances of rupture are small. The mamm tech tries to push the implants out of the way to get as much tissue on the film as possible. But, implants do make it more difficult to find problems.

The implants won't burst. The tech has you bend over so that the breasts hang down, takes hold of it and pushes the implants back. The only problem is that they can't get a real good picture. I think they should do ultrasound on people with implants. Doubt the insurance companies would go for this. They don't want to pay for much anymore.
