I'm a 17 year old Christian girl who is working as a camp counsellour at a christian camp this summer. However, the camp is a non-profit organization that looks to witness to kids and teenagers and asks their staff to volunteer. Unfortunatly many of us can't afford to work all summer for nothing but we still want to devote our summers to serving God and working with kids. I am in this situation. I found my faith at this camp and I want to make a difference in kids lives like my counsellours made in mine. There is a sponsorship program at camp that I intend to make use of. Though I don't really like the idea of asking people for money, my mom has told me I have to make $2000 this summer so I am torn between asking people for money so I can serve God or not asking and staying home. I also don't know where to look for sponsors...can anyone give me any advice for this?

Think about what you really want. Do you seriously want to help people or do you just want to spend summer at camp?

If you want to serve God, and honor your mother, you can find a paying job at a nonprofit agency or community services organization that specializes in helping people. Although it won't be as much fun as spending the summer at camp, you'll be able to serve both purposes.

Hi, I also work at a Christian Camp where I have had to raise money. The past 2 years my Church has taken up an offering for the cause, or it has been announced by my church to help raise the money for me. Talk to your pastor and tell him about your situation, and see if the church can help. Just keep praying about it and God will provide. Praying for you and your situation.

The camp may want you to work for free, and your mom may want you to bring home $2k - but what do you think God wants you to do? Keep that in mind regardless of what everyone else is asking.

If you decide to pursue this, how about asking your church to sponsor you for the summer? Many churches have funds for this purpose, or would be willing to hold a fundraising event to sponsor you.

Good luck, and God bless.

Pray to God for an answer. If you were meant to be within that ministry, He will give you the path to follow...Pay attention.

Church officials should be able to help you find sponsors or send out a flyer for you.

Take care.

Most religious things have to do with asking people for money. They are used to it. If you really want it do it.
