I am a college student majoring in architecture and my school is very far from art supplies. And architecture students always have to rush all over the place last minute in order to get supplies. I was thinking of selling supplies from my van in order to make some money and help out the college students but I want to see if its a good idea. Are there any legalities with this? And can the college sue me for using their property? And I am in NYC in case this helps. thanks

It's an interesting idea, but unless you manage to buy the items at a very serious discount so that you can sell them at a decent profit, it doesn't seem workable. Plus you'll need to store the items somewhere secure so you don't end up with your van and entire inventory stolen and wind up out of business. You should also check the school bylaws to make sure they allow selling on their property, and if they do, what do they charge for vendors. And you'll probably also need a vendor's license - check the nyc.gov website for the requirements.
