Sodium bicarbonate (Baking soda) is a base. I usually take it to neutralize stomach acid.

Calcium Chloride is neither an acid or base--it's a salt.

Sodium bicarbonate is a base.
Calcium chloride is just a plain old salt. It's definitely not an acid and I do not think it's a base.

Acids and bases react with each to make water and a salt.
base + acid ----> water + salt
Sodium bicarbonate will react with an acid to make a sodium salt and water. CaCl2 is already a salt.
