well in psychology we were discussing hypnosis and had a hypnotist come to class. he demonstrated how it was done, and after awhile my memory is sort of blank and i felt refreshed. did i get hypnotized? i dont even remember him trying to put me under, howd that happen?

Maybe he used it on the whole class? or maybe you fall asleep because IT IS BORING to watch a person dangle a string in front on another person.

You are looking at the wrong person. You put you in trance,not the hypnotist. You followed the instructions because you wanted to do it . And the next time it will be easier and you will go deeper. The fact that you have some memory blanks indicates you went quite deep. Do not worry about it.
I hope you enjoyed it ...It is fun !!!!! Much better than Alcohol or medication. Cheaper to.

They all have some kind of tricks to their trade. Just the fact your mind is susceptible makes it even easier. I have had a few try on me but my minds eye didn't like to go to my beta state of awake consciousness. But many are easily hypnotized. And they erase memory of it and leave you in a peace of mind per se.
