I saw it in the early nineties when I was about 6 and it kept me sleeping downstairs with my parents for weeks. Basically the light bulb was killing people in an attic.
Also what is the name of the Stephen King miniseries tv show that had people in an airplane trying to escape creatures that were "eating" the ground up?

Amityville Horror 3 or something like that with the posessed lamp........ And the Stephen King movie was " The langoliers"

I can't help you with the first one but the Stephen King one had to be 'The Langoliers' or 'Night Fliers', both based on his novels and the former being a mini-series.
