Say you're with a girl who has 10 different personalities, if 9 of them consent to sex, and one says no and starts resisting, is that considered rape?

mmk...to clarify, I'm not dating someone with schizophrenia. I heard a comedian ask this question and it got me to thinking about it. Nothing more complex than that. I'm happily married to a (usually) sane woman who never says no and I don't rape people. Pull the stick out of your @sses to all those freaking out about thinking I raped someone. Nutjobs.

Yes it is. It wouldn't matter if all of them said yes and then changed "their minds" It only takes one no to mean no.

Is this a for real question? or just a strategic tactic to relinquish yourself from guilt?

If she starts saying no and starts resisting, then her lover should stop and withdraw the penetration regardless of how many personalities are consenting. If the lover continues with her saying no and resisting then it is rape, even if the lover feels in his arms that she enjoys it and that 9/10 of her multiple personalities are consenting.

In response to an earlier post:
Even if the two were married, it would still be rape if the husband continues acts of sex after she has said "no," and resists. Rape can occur between married people, too.

In response to a later post:
If she consents to sex and then changes her mind and the lover does not stop the sexual act and withdraw the penetration then it is rape.

In response to another later post:
I would argue that it is a 14th Amendment right that disabled individuals and women are generally able to consent to sex if all outward manifestations indicate that intent, because blanket inability to consent would be paternalistic discrimination, given that her partner is not so dominant that consent would be questioned, i.e. much older, much more competent, or a supervisor or care taker.

In response to your update to your question:
I don't think you raped anyone. I was looking at it as a purely hypothetical. I am very interested in feminism, gender, sexuality human rights and the law, that's all. So I think its a really interesting question.

First, I admire your courage and patience for sticking by your wife's side in what is a very difficult and challenging relationship... my hat's off to you.

Usually, people who have D.I.D. have been in therapy for it... if your wife hasn't sought help for her condition, perhaps it would be best if she did. It's a very hard condition to live with. I know several people with this disorder and usually there are contracts made internally throughout the personality system regarding sex. For instance, internal kids are usually asked to "check out" or not pay attention when the older personalities are having sex.

I need to emphasize that this is a responsibility of the adults in the personality system... not yours.

I have to agree with some of the previous posters and say "No means no" regardless of the presence of multiple personalities or not. If one of the internal kids comes out and gets scared and says "no", then that part of your wife is saying no... but it's still your wife, representing the entirety, saying no. Someone isn't comfortable with it and that should be addressed.

If someone from the inside said "No." and you forced yourself on your wife, that's rape. Just the same as if a "monomind" told you no and you forced yourself on her. I hope this helps and addresses your question appropriately.

What if the person has multiple personalities, and one is a girl, and one is a guy, and has sex against the other's will, lol, can the female personality put the male personality in jail, lol. What if you are ocd, and trying to sleep with the multiple personality chick. Everything is balanced, b/c as an ocd, you automatically do everything about 100 times, just for good measure.

This is sort of strange hypothetical.

If I could get over the hurdle of believing that someone could actually have multiple personalities (an unproven psychobabble theory in my estimation), then I would say that it becomes rape the moment the woman (whichever of her personalities it may be) says "no" or begins to resist, and the "lover-turned-attacker" fails to immediately stop.

Also, if the woman is aware of her mental condition and fails to advise her partner of it, then she shares some of the reponsibility as well.

Good Luck!

Two legal issues.

First, is the person mentally stable enough to be able to give legal consent to sex? From what you described, the answer is generally going to be no. So, it would be statutory rape, in states that have statutory rape laws against the mentally ill.

Second, assuming the person is mentally stable enough to consent, it would theoretically depend on which personality was current and dominant. If the current (forward, active) personality said no, then it would be rape, regardless what was going on internally.

Yes these laws were clarified in the 80s. Even a mentally handicap person can commit rape...

I think that after 2 personalities,,, I would be leaving without thinking about sex. Crazy situation. Most guys can't handle a woman with just one personality. As far as your question,,, it depends which personality shows up in court.

I think she would be considered mentally incompetent and therefore the offender would be screwed even with consent from all 10 personalities...

What kind of a question is that? Of course it is if she doesn't consent. Why not just wait till your married anyways, then you don't need to spend your time worrying about weird questions. Peace.

Yes it is because the roots of this personality is from the same person .For a better understanding on this read Sidney Sheldon`s "Tell me your Dreams"
