I've had a myspace for about 3 years and when my brother found out i had one he opened his mouth to my parents about myspace and my mom searched it up and didn't like the idea of it and she made me delete mine. I understand why she did that, because of idiot kids posting personally identifiable information about themselves over the internet and about those internet predators out there misrepresenting themselves on myspace to try to meet teens and do things to them. i am aware of these people and i know better not to post information like that on the internet and i use myspace strictly to talk to my friends only. after a whule she let me have my myspace back but then let me delete it again. Do you think that's fair of her. I'm a 14 year old boy who has the mentality of a 2o year old. besides even though predators go for boys, they are most likely to go for girls. is it fair of my mom?

First of all, no 14 year old boy has the mentality of a 20 year old..You just think you do. And no, a 14 year old shouldn't even be allowed on the internet without adult supervision at all times. Where are your parent's when you are online????

T.J., hi! I am a Mom, and I have 2 kids, they are older than you are, and both of them have myspace accounts, as well I myself have one. There are a lot of nasty, cruel, and sick people out there, and your Mom is trying to protect you from them. Honey, that's our job, it may not be fair, but she's Mom. Could you talk to her? Don't tell her how unfair it is, but explain like you did here.

You could even print this out. Maybe Mom would let you have a myspace with you gave her the password to your account. You might not like the idea, but ask her for a trail period. Say two weeks, you give her permission to go on your myspace anytime she wants. Then she can she that you are handling yourself with caution and with safety in mind.

T.J., please try to understand that your Mom is trying to do her best by you, and that she is taking her responsibilties seriously. To keep you safe and happy is a hard job, you-kids didn't come with an instruction book, and we didn't have all these computers when we were coming up. So, she's scared-so don't be too hard on her ok!

Hope you get your myspace back, I don't see anything wrong with it, if you do want you said and are careful and only let your friends into your private space. Good luck!

God bless us all...............

In a way yes, but my mom was the same way until i told her a bit about it. Heres some tips that may help...
1.pick the parent who you are closest too

2.find a good time when they are in a good mood and say "mom/dad, can i have a myspace? i know you said no, but it's not that bad. I can set my profile to priviet and no perv would ever see me, just my friends,"

if they still say no you could say...

1.i could make you (parent) a myspace so you can check it out

2. try not to get to this step but say...
"if i get a myspace you can have my password and check in on me"

this junk worked for me, try it....OMG I JUST READ YOU WERE A BOY! haha, i'm sry, this was more towards girls but it may work for you...haha...ahhhhh....i'm sorry, i didn't finish reading your thing

I think if you were really as mature as a 20 year old, you wouldn't be making such a big fuss over something as trivial as whether your mom lets you have a MySpace or not. Go take up some extra curricular activities or join some clubs, if you're bored.

well predators are equally likely to go for both boys and girls.
i am 21 now and when my parents were telling me to get off computer (i was constantly on icq), i did not listen to them.
now i realize that spending all that time online was just a waste. if you do want a myspace profile, set it on private, so only your friends can see it. and, trust me, it's much better to go out and chill with your friends than exchange meaningless messages with them over the internet.

Myspace is overrated; so I won't worry. Plus, I think you're overestimating yourself w/ saying you are 14 w/ the mind/maturity of a 20 year old. By asking this question, it's proof that you are not.

nicely you have very stable mothers and dads. you do no longer choose myspace to communicate on your persons. in basic terms call them on the telephone. actually hun, i might fairly somebody call me up then to write right down to me on myspace. And do you comprehend what number creepy each and every person is floating around the internet? From the seems of your message, you look extremely youthful so i do no longer think of you'll be uncovered to those sort of chat and "social networking" sites in the 1st place.

i definitely think so at least until you are 16 or so.... all myspace is is a playground for people to post half nude pics of themselves which is inappropriate for a young man... it is one thing if boys look up porn, but when the naked people are real and live in close proximity it gets a bit more serious and scary... u could talk to her like the adult you claim to be and ask if you have restrictions on your profile like setting it to private and allowing her to monitor it

myspace does cause some problems, so i kinda see her reasoning, but if you prove you aren't using it for anything questionable and are careful about what you post, make your page private and all, id think itd be okay.
