If you're in doubt then go to the emergency room or ask a different doctor, but your mucus plug can 'reform' in some situations...

With my first pregnancy I lost mine at 32 weeks when I first went into labour but because it was too early the hospital stopped labour. The mucus plug grew back and I lost it again at 37 weeks and my daughter was born the following day.

Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't always come out in one whole chunk... it often comes away a tiny bit at a time and you barely notice it.

But again, if in doubt, go get checked out!

Mucus plugs can grow back so they don't get over excited about it. I was dialated 2cm for 2 weeks before I lost mine. Then when I lost it 24 hours later my baby was here!

How far along are you ? your dr should really check you, cos when your mucous pug is coming out you can be dialating and with your plug gone you are more prone to infection.. drs dont like to do internals too early cos that may bring on contractions...it all depends on how far you are ..good luck.. i lost my plug when i was around 37 weeks and contiued to lose it up to delivery.... but your water usually doesnt break right after..like i said i lost mine at 37 weeks and i was induced at 41 weeks

I passed my mucus plug when I was 5 months pregnant, but my midwife informed me that they grow back. She wasn't concerned when I lost mine, and depending on how far along you are, they probably won't check you unless it's combined with contractions or something similar. If you start having contractions, or your water breaks, go in right away, otherwise, I wouldn't worry.

4 weeks? are you sure?
a mucus plug is just that...a plug...once you start to dilate and efface, the plug is lost and your water breaks...
4 weeks?
