yes, ther are child labor laws but whereever you are you can usually work a few hours a week at 15 or 16 if it doesn't interfere wiuth your schooling and you get a "work permit" thru school or somewhere. if you are that age ask your school counselor or parent to find about laws in your area. Younger than that, 13 or so, you can probably do simple jobs carrying groceries for the neighbors or babysitting, but some communities have community classes on first aide and things before you can become a babysitter in town so be aware of that too.

it's 16 in most states. At 15 you can get a worker's permit, ask your guidance counselor at school about how to get one. I'm pretty sure you have to have parent's permission. Most places won't hire a person under 18 because there are such strict laws about child labor. Such as a person under 17 can't work past 10 on school nights, can't work more than 20 hrs. a week, etc. etc. There are so many laws governing kids working that most employers don't like hiring them. Try babysitting or cleaning people's houses that you know, or dog sitting, or mowing lawns, anything to make extra $$ until you are old enough to go to work.

You can get a job as early as 15, but its hard enough to get one at 16. You can do things like bag groceries but anything that requires any type of machinery, including something as simple as a coffee maker, you have to be at least 18.
