I'm now considering getting a new job.

I've been working at this place for about two weeks, It's a retail job, and I have been training in EVERY different department, I'm part time.. and I am not getting good hours at ALL.

I'm talking maybe 18-19 hours a week (I was told I would get 30 hours even though I still am training), at around 8 dollars an hour.

I have to be trained in every department in the store, and know every procedure. I have only been trained in cashiering ONLY ONCE, for two hours, and a few days later they put me on cashier ALONE, on the busiest day of the week.

The rest of the trainees that got the job around the same time I did already quit.

I'm being harassed by my managers, and I am becoming to overwhelmed.

This was supposed to be a temporary job, 6-12 weeks... until I get home from a vacation (I'm visiting my parents here, I live in another state). But I desperately need this job to be on my resume... and I've only been there two weeks. I'm so disgusted, stressed and overwhelmed I'm ready to quit, and I'm eyeing another job (not sure how much it pays) at a day care center. I have experience (volunteer work) in working in a nursery, but no work experience (until this job).

So... I'm completely miserable. When should I quit, if at all? Remember: I need this job on my resume!

I do need the money.. but I've never had a job before this one, and in my town NO one will hire you unless you have prior work experience. Believe me, I've tried and failed many times.

You don't need THIS job on your resume, you need A job on your resume. If you completely hate the job you have, and you have the opportunity to try for another that will make you happier, by all means, try to get the other job! It will look just as good on your resume, and if you are totally stressed out after two weeks, it's unlikely you will make it through the entire 12 weeks, so it's better to to look at leaving now before you invest much more time there.

good luck!

Actually, you don't need this job on your resume. Working at a job for 6-12 weeks is not going to make your resume look better. It's not necessarily the quantity of jobs that you have on your resume but rather the quality. Quality as in how the jobs you had in the past relate to what you are going to do in the future. If the job has nothing to do with what you want to do once you graduate college it really won't serve any purpose being on your resume. Keep the job only if you need the money.

Honesty is the best policy and will keep you out of trouble in the interview. There are ways of making your resume look good without lying. Simply expand on your strenghths your a good leader, you have strong people skills, you have book keeping knowledge, know how to keep clients happy ect.. Tell them what is good about you and try to avoid telling them in an interview what you have been doing or that you have a proby. Also bump up your resume and show your proby that your trying by doing some community service or volunteer time. Good luck

If you want me to review it for you I'll be glad to, feel free to exclude address and other contact information.

I'm going through the same process now, I hate my current job but for different reasons.

If you haven't already you may want to get a copy of What Colour is your Parachute
