The Philippines is nice because the people are nice and friendly..

In general it is clean.. I think the people saying that it's polluted, full of poverty and corruption are those who have only been in Metro Manila or in the cities and were not able to discover the real beauty of their own country.. Most places in the city are polluted but not all..

If you go to the provinces you will see many beautiful paradise like you've never seen anywhere else in the world..also the provinces are very rich in culture and history..

Yes, I am from the Philippines.. I am a Filipino..

I am not a filipino and I am not from the Philippines.
For the past three years, I've been visiting the Philippines every 4 months because I am working in a country near by.
I enjoy visiting Philippines to be with my wife. I usually stay within 1 area. My wife's family treat me like a King and they are very good cooks. The food is very good.
My wife is treated with high respect. Young filipina girls ask her many question about love and marriage. Sometimes she don't know how to answer some of the deep questions.

Some people are very nice to me and then there are those with the envious look at there face. I have to deal with people looking and gawking at me like they never saw a foreigner before.
I always make grand entrance when I walk into a restaurant with my short, beautiful and sexy wife.

I really enjoy the Philippines a lot.

The Philippines is an eye opener. There is a mixture of everything. Poverty and pollution can be seen everywhere but at the same time so can wealth and cleanliness.
Manila is overcrowded and polluted too many people come from the provinces looking for work and a lot of them end up being beggars and/or living on the streets.
Makati is clean as are most of provincial areas.
Most of the Filipinos are a warm and friendly people and should be treated with the respect they deserve.
If you enjoy shopping you won't believe the prices and the availability of goods.
No, I am not from the Philippines but I do try to visit my extended family at least every two years.

The Philippines is more than nice and beautiful.

It is rich in natural resources foremost of which is its people.

Some places in the metropolis are dirty because of overpopulation - something hard to control and manage to get a full cooperation in maintaining a clean environment. But then, it is a place we can call our own, not a place temporarily borrowed during our sojourn abroad... We love it.

The fine sand beaches, mountains, the caves, underground rivers, the giant rice terraces you don't see in other places, the thousand islands, and most of all the happy faces, happy smiles (despite poverty) are just a few of those things that make one want to come back and retire in this country even after long years of absence earning dollars/euros from abroad.

And I think those strangers who have experienced living and working here, they keep coming back even when their stints here have been long over. What could be better testimony than that? On how nice this country really is.

The Philippines is not for everyone. It is a 3rd world country similar to India, Vietnam and Indonesia. Despite the pollution, poverty and beggars (mostly found in Metropolitan cities), some foreigners still find the Philippines appealing. There are 7,100 islands in the country to choose from. Some of these islands are free of pollution and has a rural atmosphere. Obviously FilAmUSA is a city boy who only went as far as Makati City (business center of the Philippines). If you hate the cities, then go to the provinces and look for an island that you can call paradise.

Me? leave the Philippines in a heartbeat? Sorry, I am a nationalist. My grandfather served in World War II, my grandmother served her province as a public official. I am proud of my roots. My country needs me and I am here to stay.

busy areas are polluted, hold onto your valuables. that includes cities and towns not far from the city. some cities such as manila and davao and in cebu can actually pass for small cities in the midwest US.

but when u go to the provinces, and u go away from the city, its real nice and quiet.

when u get to the beaches in the province, infiniti views are so beautiful when the sunsets!

tourist spots are disapppointing, boracay is too commercialized. how sad

take the bancas to the tiny islands and you will find the best islands with the white sand, clam bluegreen clear oceans and rock forms with BEAUTIFUL lakes.

provinces, are chill, but living a very slow life, and still living in the bamboo homes and sometime septic tanks are the bathrooms. so if your standards are orange country, ca, u will hate it. but if your into roughing it, and u should get all your shots, it wont be bad.

another big thing i noticed is the HUGE amount of advertisements its citizens display in their businesses and even thier homes. these companies advertise so much, that the country itself has become a walking advertisement, with lots and lots of poverty.

was that somewhat helpful? that was my experience

First, all countries have good and bad in it. But The Philippines is a nice place and unique. It reflects a mix of its native-pacific origins with its colonizers, Spain. That's why it's really a latin country in asia-pacific. Even though the major cities like Manila have pollution, just like any other world city, it has its nice parts and sites as well, you just have to know where they are, and there are many. If you don't like cities and want the real experience, then go to the outer rural/islands resorts to relax and see culture. But like with any country, you must respect it and become a part of the country and culture when you are there.

Yes I am from the Philippines!
Nice? It depends on how you would define nice. With all its faults... to me, it is beautiful.
If you love warm weather you will enjoy it here. The metropolis is quite polluted and populated though. But if you're looking for good food (a wide variety!), cheap shopping places and fun, you'll find it all here!!
If you're changing US, Australian or Canadian$... or Euros and British pounds to Philippine Pesos (PHP) you're money's gonna go a loooooongggg way here...
The countryside offers a different adventure...a different adventure for each place you visit!! It is quite an exciting place to visit! I would highly reccomend you come experience the Philippines if you are an adventurer. Just make sure you get in touch with reliable people who can advise you well.
I'm from here but when i visit the different islands I'm still amazed at how beautiful the Philippines is... :)
