If you are not comfortable with opening the laptop yourself to clean out the fans and verify they are working, then take it into your local computer repair station and have them do it.

Now there are cooling pads and there are chill mats. I'm not sure if your coolpad is just one of the stationary ones that's made of some material that's supposed to cool your laptop... or if it has fans built in. Chill mats typically have small fans built into the bottom, it plugs into your usb port for power and rests underneath your laptop. One of these might do the trick.
