I HATE this "America's Team" nonsense.

There's 50 states and 32 teams. I'm sure not everyone is going to ride the same bandwagon.

I could see it with NO after Katrina or NE or the NY/Wash teams after 9/11 but I just can't see it today.

There is no such team as Americas Team. Well, unless you are the saints from 2006. But Its hard for a team to be consider for the whole country as its team. teams like the patriots, cowboys are consider for this because of their logos and their patriotic crab, but if you really want a team that can be seen as Americas Team, it has to be the #1 Merchandise selling team in America, which do have the #1 pick for this year NFL Draft. Yep, The Raiders, they might be the worst team, but its fans are too committed to walk-away from them. Unlike fans from other teams do during their low-points. Plus, everywhere I go, I see a Raider Fan. California, is full of them, well most of the West side of the Country is. But even TX. where I live is surrounded by Raider fans. The Broncos cant be Americas team with a horse logo. Unless, you are talking about the old west.

I agree with Mike. There is no America's Team. The reason the Cowboys were called that in the 70s was because they lost the big game. They seemed to be the best team every year, but somehow lost. Everyone got behind them for their clean cut, and "people's champ" images. There is no team like that now. Denver, of course will get some sympathy, but it's really not a rallying point to get behind this team.

The Packers have always been America's Team!

They have won more Championships than any other team (12). The Trophy is named after Vince Lombardi. Green Bay's nickname is "Titletown".

They always represented the little guy, the underdog. And are in the smallest city in the NFL.

The team is not owned by an Individual Person(s), it is owned by the city itself. What is more American than the American People owning the franchise.

The Packers Organization was rated as the Number 1 sports franchise by ESPN.

Oh geez the Cowboys are STILL America's Team and always will be because they gave themselves the title. Face it everyone likes them or hates them and they are pretty much the Yankees of Football, so you can't really top them to take the title. What next should Steelers fans say Now that we have a black coach are we the new America's team? Can't we just drop this stupid crap about the "new America's team" already?

No, though their deaths were very tragic. However, these events do not make a team "America's Team". I don't believe that any particular team can claim that title. The Cowboys used to have that title, even though it was given to them by the media, not the country.
