im on a tight budget, and am wondering if buying a universal remote at home depot for my garage door opener would be cheaper than a genie remote. what do you think? thx

the problem with a universal remote is, there still a that chance that it might not be compatible. so if you do buy one make sure you can return it. but remember there's nothing like the original even for a couple of buck. really is it that much more?

Go with the original Genie-- universal remotes don't always work with all brands

I work at Home Depot ...And it would be cheaper to buy the universal remote and you can program your code into it.
It comes with directions....Good luck

Stick with the one that came with the opener. Universal electronics are there to sucker you in and nothing more.
