im 19 yrs female in perfect health. Lately i have been feeling my heart beating sometimes it beats fast but not that fast. I went to the doc the other day to make sure it wasnt anything serious going on. Anyways my blood pressure was good and my pulse was 72. He did a ekg on me and it showed up fine. He said it was just my nerves making my heart beat fast. So is this what could be causing it anxiety cuz when im relax i cant really feel it beating but when im not really relax i can. So is this normal for my age or not? Is this anxiety or what?

Considering that your doctor said there doesn't appear to be a physical reason for the feeling, it is most likely anxiety. The thing about anxiety is that it's self-perpetuating. Once you've experienced, you get anxious about experiencing the uncomfortable feelings again. They that anxiety builds on itself until you're feeling overwhelmed. Your body then secretes adrenaline and hormones that will cause your heart to speed up a bit. So actually you're getting a cardiovascular workout from inside rather than through exercise. :)

When you feel that anxious, you have to try and tell yourself that you know it's not a physical problem, that your mind is getting the best of you, and that you know if you take a few deep breaths and distract yourself it's going to go away. It's mind over matter. It's learning to relax and calm yourself. If your anxiety is becoming a distraction or affecting your daily life, you may need some medication to help you get back in control of your feelings. See if you can handle the problem by yourself. If you can't, seek out your doctor or a counselor or get some mild anti-anxiety medication.

I do not recommend medication because it will not solve your problem, only suppress it so it can pop out in another form, perhaps in a process happening within your body that you will not notice until it is too late. As for anxiety attacks, I had an acquaintance who was in the same situation. I did not help her because she refused help, but I have some strange methods to deal with this. It sounds as if there are no tremendous problems in your life, but I'm only assuming from the "suffer from attacks of anxiety for no apparent reason" quote. It would be helpful for you to seek an opportunity where you can focus on other people in third world countries, perhaps volunteering to distribute malaria relief or food, even. When you're dealing with a real crisis, sometimes these things take the backdrop and leave you alone. On the other hand, pressure can mount higher and you'll find yourself worse off, but I doubt this.

I had this too. My heart would pound so hard that my body would shake. I went to the doc and ecg and blood pressure checked out fine.My doctor told me to start monitoring my blood pressure at as going to the doc can stress you out and give anincorrect reading. I started monitoring my own blood and found out that it was very low. But going to the doc stressed me out and put it up :P. try hiring a blood pressure monitor from a pharmacy and monitor it while you are having an attack. Drinking plenty of water and eating licorice helps raise your blood pressure if it is a little low.
I also get similar symptoms form stress. Close your eyes and try some deep breathing. Listening to some relaxing music on headphones can block out the stress and allow you to relax in your own world for a while too.

Im 18 and have had anxiety for the past year or so. Some days are better than others. If it starts affecting you emotionally is when you should start to really do something about it.

We all have feelings of anxiety from time to time. But how can you tell if your anxiety is out of control? If you experience restlessness, nervousness, bad temper, racing thoughts, rapid heartbeat, muscletension, extreme difficulty resting or concentrating, you probably need to get help.

Yes this is anxiety. If it concerns you that much you may want to try meditation when you need to relax.
