Bats urinate just the same as anything else. They can do so when they fly, but they also do so when roosting. If they are hanging upside down they use their claw like appendages on their wings to upright themselves and then pee. It's actually quite comical to watch. I have seen fruit bats do so many times and it still makes me giggle because when they are done they shake their little legs before returning to the upside down position. But.....They also "anoint" themselves with their urine from time to time. Not a very pleasant thing for us, but the bats of the opposite sex seem to think it's pretty groovey!

They will just pee while flying or if roosting in a cave or man-made structure, they will crawl away from the group and turn themselves sort of upright and urinate so that is does not get all over themselves or their neighbors...then they will crawl back into the group again.

Duck your head as one flies over.
They just let it go when they need to as do all other animals. That's why some folks get hit by stuff when a bird, etc. flies over.
Another spot bats do their thing is in bat caves. Now that can get a bit messy to say the least.

They are mammals, so the urinate just as we do. They don't urinate on themselves when they sleep upside down. They urinate as they fly, especially when they first start at night.
