Skating poles should be up to around your chin, classic poles should be an inch or two shorter. its all about personal preference and how you like to ski. go to a ski shop and check some out!

There is an optimum for everything. Anything longer becomes unwieldy. Shoulder height for classic, and longer for skating.

Not necessarily, because you push yourself foward using your legs. I recommend 2/3 body height for length
