This chick was on the news today complaining that in her social work class she had to write a papper on why homosexual couples should be able to adopt she is now sueing the college because she said it was against her religion.my question is is what is your view on the topic?
My personal opinion is that if she is going to be a social worker she is every day going to have to deal with that culture half the children who are above the age of 15 are beacuase of the strict rules about not being able to have contact alone with the opposite sex. so what is she going to do refuse a case beacuse it doesnt fit her religion? I dont know I belive freedom in belifs if something isnt ethical to you to write you do have the option of failing the assignment

She has a valid case. She shouldn't have been forced to sign something to promote homosexual adoption; as stated in the article, that does violate her rights.
Obvioiusly I support homosexual adoption, I'm queer. But I also realize that not everyone agrees with me, and those who don't have a right to their own opinion.
I know she wants to be a social worker, but I don't think this *should* be a problem. She should be able to seperate her religion from her career enough to remain unbiased on other people's lifestyles. As a social worker, she is not forced to promote homosexual adoption through documentation. If she doesn't agree with it, that's fine, as long as she doesn't condemn others for it.

If she's going to be a social worker she's going to have to deal with several different issues and situations that she may not agree with or be comfortable with. If she's this much of a baby now then maybe she shouldn't go into social work. People are so greedy, whiny and litigious nowadays. Maybe I'll go college and sue because I don't like or am too lazy to do the assignments. She's not being forced to take these classes so I don't think she has any grounds for a lawsuit.

I did not read the news article and therefore I could not comment on this particular article. Though I can say that this fight about this girl suing the school, my guess, will continue in our time. As religion is also come to the mix, that also makes gay and lesbians/trangrand issues more prevalent in the society. Homework or assignments are needed to be done if you want to pass your course. When you're at your job, you should put your judgements away. If you do not do so, you are not suited at public service jobs or people orientated jobs. People comes in all different creeds, colours and backgrounds etc...

By what you say she sounds as though she is money hungry! Social workers are supposed to be un-biast, religion or not. To sue for a paper? Why not just refuse to write the paper? I do agree that it shouldn't have been on the "why they should be able to" but rather "why or why they shouldn't be able to", but by no means was that a reason to sue.
The question for her at this point should be " should you be allowed to be a social worker with your closed mind and judgemental attitude?"

Homosexuality and bi-sexuality are are in basic terms 2 comparable varieties of fornication, additionally equivalent to adultery. they are all sins of the flesh and that they are an abomination to God. it is no longer suitable what you prefer to call it or what observe dancing you prefer to do around it. i'm hoping you already know that it extremely isn't the only verse in the Bible that warns of the hazards of homosexuality. Leviticus 18:22, and one million Corinthians - 6-19 additionally communicate of this sin. by how, you are able to mock Christians in case you choose, it quite is your selection. even in spite of the shown fact that, I worry no guy for any reason; yet I do worry for the souls of many for many motives, their mocking being one.

While I do believe that gay couples should have the right to adopt (the apa and the aap have both given the okay), i do not believe that in a college setting you should force someone to write a paper on something that they do not agree with. This is not very academic. a smarter alternative would be to have her write a paper on the arguments for and against this issue.

I haven't heard that news... do you have a link to the article?
I don't thitnk she should be asked to write on why they should have the right--she should have been asked to write about what she thinks of the right... Huge difference...
Everyone has a right to their partivular belief system, but you are right--if she's going to be in social work, she's in for a huge reality check...

I'm not sure how I feel about this case, but as for her career choice I don't think she should be allowed to be a social worker if she cannot separate her career from her religious values.

Then she should leave the school.
If you feel something is against your religious beliefs, it is your responsibility to stand up and walk away. To strike back and attempt to force others to capitulate to your religious belief is forcing your religion on others.

I think she needs to get a life. This won't be the only time she has to do something she doesn't want to...sounds like a spoilt little brat to me.
