If the USA was split in half, that would be a unique idea.
Democracy would end, but people would complain a lot less!

<<"Use your imagination, eventhough I know it is sometimes hard if you are a democrat, but try anyway.">>
Of course, cause if there is anything those of you Right-wingers are good at, it is using your imagination in order to believe that Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter are right when they tell you that the Bush administration “has done a damn fine job” and “everything is going swimmingly”.
As for you question: Well, the first thing that would happen is you would get plenty of folks with Jersey and Bostonian accents in sunny California bitching about the heat. ;)
If you are talking about the eventual outcome however, I believe you would see the new liberal west do things like providing free healthy care to most, if not for all kids under 18 at least. Also, there would be great environmental initiatives to fight global warming and not to mention continue the general fight against pollution...........Basically, everything Liberal/Democratic that “Republicans” like Schwarzenegger are doing now, ironically while still trying to talk bad about the Democrats.
As for the conservative country in the East, well things would be, like they are NOW, except worse. But don’t worry; Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and Ann Coulter will be there to remind you that no matter what you know, things ARE great, and if you don’t think so, you are a traitor to your nation.

what would happen? in like 20 years the "east" would be a third would country, since education would be only for those who can pay for it in the "east"... so the vast majority would be uneducated... then businesses would leave due to a lack of educated employees... and who wants to move to a third world country?
everyone would be trying to get into the west, but the east would build a wall and like shoot half of it's population when they all tried to jump over the wall... because of course... they would have plenty of guns a bullets...
then about 10 years after that... the east would grow angry at the liberal success and try to attack... of course all their weapons would be like 20 years old by then, because all the scientists that develop new weapons would have left...and they would lose after some early advances...
EDIT: and oh yeah.... you know all the "imagination" people are conservative...HAHHAHA... all the writers, directors, painters... those WITH imagination... all very conservative...HAHAHHA

Thats funny! Especially as a Republican I've never liked the west half of the country and always favored the east half! I'd want to make sure we had that border secured!

I am from the peoples republic of mass, as conservatives like to refer to us and the dems would probably be east and the republicans would be west. And then the west would be forced to rejoin the union, just as the conservative southern democrats had to do after the civil war, because you guys would get spanked again and again. Give it up. You lost once and you would lose again. Just look at the house and senate.

Both sides happy - you genocidal maniacs exterminating each other and a prosperous, progressive west thriving - everyone doing what makes them happy.
I thought of saying you guys would go invade other countries for looting, but you republicans prefer sending others' kids to war and keeping your fat rears safe here, as you demonstrate. And don't give me the sob story about your 20 years, if you believed in somethiing you wouldn't be here bragging - you'd grow balls and stand up for what you believe. I have known places that you'd cry in the corner to just hear about, Mr. Verbal Hero.

The Democrats would be on constant guard at the Mississippi trying to turn back the tide of Illegal immigrants. I'm sure you understand who I'm talking about, ie... the disillusioned, the disenfranchised, etc...

That's not a useful split, since it doesn't acurrately reflect where the majority of supporters in each party are located.
But generally, having several regional governments, rather than one central continent-wide government, would cut down on a lot of problems and drastically reduce partisan bickering.

are you serious? if anything, do the opposite, the democrats take the east, and the repuglicans take the west.
i get it, you think democrats don't have an imagination.
well let's think about this: Democrats support liberal arts and sciences, republicans don't.
who has the imagination again?

The left would would become increasingly unhappy as there will be a lack of food: because they all turned vegetarian and the animals they couldn't kill anymore must have the crops to feed on,
Lack of gas, the left will have none because they won't drill and refine, will cost lost jobs.
Lost jobs because of no industry, they either escaped because high taxes or were shut down because they were to 'nasty' to have.
The right will have built a wall to protect themselves from the heathens.
