I didn't understand the ending to Silent Hill. Can someone please explain it to me?

Well the movie is mainly like Dante's inferno. They descend through hell and at the end when they witness the punishment of the sinners they acend into purgatory where they will wait for their judgement. But unknown to them is the fact that they have actually died in the car crash and their bodies were sucked into the "other wolrd: that is why no one except the townspeope and demons can see or feel them....

The little girl didnt cover her eyes and looked into alessas eyes and alessa took over sherry. I love silent hill. I really love the video games. if you havent already, Youve got to play silent hill one two and three. They are the best!

The ending was quite confusing I agree.
Heres was happend the part where rose is stabbed she dies there. and the daughter dies some point to and when they leave Silent Hill and return home they are in A different dimension that is why when she calls there is nothing but Static at that point they are in the afterlife. anymore questions just ask.

Sharon and Rose are trapped in the fog world because Sharon isnt really Sharon. When they were in the church Rose told Sharon to keep her eyes closed but she opened them allowing Dark Alessa to posses her. I think that Alessa wanted a mother figure in Rose so she kept her trapped in the fog world while letting her leave silent hill. If you notice Sharon was acting funny at the end.

they both died when the car crashed but at the end they realize they are dead when they came home.
