A router is no way dependent on your OS it will send and receive 24/7. Now the wireless adapter on your computer does have to have drivers for Vista.

Assuming your computers wireless adapter is working correctly, have you setup your router for your Cable ISP connection. They are not just plug and play.

Well it should work, routers really dont care what OS your computer is using, in fact they really dont even know. The XP is just what platform the setup program is running on.

You shouldn't need the setup program as you can access the router from a web browser.

I think Belkins default address is 192.168.0.1 (but check the book). It that is the default connect your router between your computer and your cable modem. Then open your Web Browser (internet explorer) and type that address into the address line. The Belkan setup page should appear. just complete the setup and the router should start working.

any router is compatible to win vista...it could be possibel that the wireless device driver installed on you computer is not compatible with vista.

chk your wireless device original manufacturer, ask them if they have the drivers compatible for win vista
