It's pronounced Es-Me
I'm having a girl
Does it sound like an old person's name?

Honestly, it makes me think of the character Smee (sp?) from Peter Pan...you know, Captain Hook's flunky?

I honestly don't mean any offense. It really isn't my style. It sounds like the name you come to after looking through too many naming lists. Trust me, I had Siobahn stuck in my head as a "good name" for a while...and I'm not Irish!

it is pronounced ez-mea actually. i know a little girl named that. She is named after a writer and it is spelled Esme with an accent over second e. the way your pronouncing it sounds too gritty on the tounge.. not pretty.. too cutesy maybe.

There is a little girl at the daycare I work at with the name Esme. I think it's cute and really unique. She also has a brother, Asa.

I like it better pronounced Ez-may and spelled with the accent over the first "é" like Renée as Esmée. Lovely name!

I like it.
But read "For Esme -- with Love and Squalor" (find it in Nine Stories, by J.D. Salinger) before you use it. All her teachers will make the connection.

Sounds okay, but too many e's. How about Esme or
Esmea?

To me, it sounds very arabian. Like Princess Jasmine and Aladin. Its not my favorite choice, but not that bad.

Alternate spellings: Ehzmie. Ehsmee, Ehsmye, Esmye, Ezmi, Ezmy, Esimie
