Republican, democrat, any other party, doesn't matter--most Americans have the attitude that we're the super nation of the world. Maybe other countries have complaints about that attitude and other more seriously things as well(I'm not going to get into a political debate here)...but who couldn't think of at least one complaint about every country on the map? We should consider the good of the world in making our policies, but the federal government is responsible for making laws and policies for the nation not the world. In the end, we should be considerate of others but should not put great weight on the opinions of other countries, because they are OUR( the United States') policies. International policies are what the UN(no matter how ineffective) is for.
and FYI, I'm a conservative Republican.

France has been arrogant for over 100 years and they apparently are beloved, oh yeah they are a bunch of socialist backstabbers...
kidding aside, here is a fact or two.
1) the media is portraying the rest of the world as being against the US yet we have more people wanting to come to the states then who want to move to any other country in the world. so apparently the hate is superficial.
2) there are plenty of nations that respect the US more than their neighbors. Poland for example, I know from direct sources that the polish would rather be part of the US than a part of the EU any day of the week. Japan also has a strong relationship with the US and despite political tensions that are exacerbated by political one ups man ship the US is still tied pretty strongly to our traditional allies (France excluded because they sell their political influence to who ever pays them).
3) the rest of the world is irrelevant to internal political issues. i don't care if Kazakhstan does not like president Bush. I don't care if Germany is opposed to the death penalty, their opinions should not and will never affect internal policies, that was part of the reason for the revolution.
4) Why should we the US allow others to dictate to us? you can say "well the US has been interfering with international politics forever." well guess what who hasn't? The US is only the latest of major world players to try their hand at political influence, if the old world powers don't like us playing in their sand box tough. we have every right to help when asked and when needed.
5) what exact complaint do the other world powers have? Iraq? well friend if you actually read the UN resolutions regarding Iraq, you would know we were well within our rights and international law to act. why do you think the UN has not attempted to censure the US or penalized us in any way? because there is nothing illegal in our actions. show me one international law or US law that was violated.
just because the far left spin machine (here and abroad) paints the US as a pariah does not make it so. in fact I have family and friends all over the world and I can ask any of them right now what the feeling about the US is and all will probably say "we are too busy with our lives to worry about the US."
I traveled the world as a child and I know I am just as accepted today as I was in all the places I know and saw back then.
you want to color this country as the villain, by all means, it is your right. the rest of us with real global perspective and who understand what politics is really about, are going too enjoy our lives and not worry about the opinions of Luxembourg or Lower Antilles.

I don't really care, but ever since 9/11, America-haters from other countries have been sending in more and more bogus complaints. It has become a waste of time to find a legit complaint to improve upon. And remember, everyone who voices their opinion against the U.S. usually has a hidden agenda and tries to alure people with things that aren't what they seem, just like marketing. It's not that easy to sort out the ones that are trying to make our country succeed, and the ones that are trying to tear us down.
It's much more complicated than just "correcting our policies," especially if it's something big. And if it's something big, than it usually gets voted on by the senate, and the people of the U.S. If it's something small, than 2/3 of the population doesn't even care. So, I actually don't care at all.

Let me clarify something, if you want answers to your questions, try being polite. The words are Conservatives or Republicans, and I will in turn call you a Liberal or Democrat (or what ever title you use). Of course we care what the world thinks about the United States. That's why we are not ranting like loons on the "View" or going on late night T.V. calling our President "stupid". Do you think those images are missed by the rest of the world? In addition, I choose my "friends" carefully and I acknowledge that not everyone will like me, and that's okay. I think it's okay if not every country in the world admires us, they seem to know where we are when they have a disaster, don't they??? We are not "REALLY" being stupid, we are being cautious, try it.

whats really funny, in a tragic sort of way, is that the whole American spectrum is really skewed. What most neocons call "far left" or "liberal" includes the vast majority (80%) of the populations of Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia and southern Africa. The only other large group that 's solidly right wing like American neocons is Arabs. (and right-wing Iranians).
but this whole left-right spectrum is symptomatic of the narrow-minded only-two-answers-to-any-question thinking that Americans have been conditioned to. The US is now one of the few countries left in the world (in the company of such bastions of freedom as North Korea, Turkmenistan, Cuba and China) that is still disallowing an open multi-party system.
2 choices is better than one choice, but its still not true freedom.

I agree with GOPforMe2003. I was in the Mega Marines for 20 years as a Super Colonel. The rest of the world worships the united states. A little Muslim Arab gril gave me a handful of flowers the other day. Does that answer your question.

I disagree. This is not a popularity contest. America needs to do what is in her best self interest. As do other countries. You cannot become more like someone else without becoming less of what you are. There are a lot of jealous people out there. There are a lot of people who would not exist if it were not for us defending them. I guess it kind of gives them an inferiority complex. But I see that as their problem not ours.
While they whine and bankrupt themselves with socialist program after socialist program we will continue to be the breadbasket of the world. The land of the free and the home of the brave.
The place with them most foreign people queued up to get in.

We should have great concern about how the world views the United States. We used to be the envy of the world but now we are viewed as arrogant and no one respects us. If people say we do not need the rest of the world, then you sound exactly like north korea because that is their view point. So lets be just like north korea and just rely on ourselves and see how that goes

Have you thought of what specific complaints other countries have? How about the French's problem with our capitalist system that allows the people to control their own wealth? Or perhaps Iran who disagree with America's equal rights for women? Perhaps you are referring to N. Korea and their socialist Health care system that does not allow their sick immediate medical attention since their health clinics are so backed up? So, to answer your question, NO I don't give a rat's furry fat --- what any other country thinks of us since we are the SINGLE greatest country on the planet. And just for the record, I believe it's the God-hating, anti-American, Military-loathing, lying, lunatic leftist liberals of this country who are stupid. Have a nice day!

One time a father and a son took a horse to sell at the market. As they walked the father said let me teach you about peoples opinions and making everyone happy son.The father got on the horse and rode. some people passed and said "look at the father riding the horse and making his poor son walk! The son should be riding the horse!"The father then got off and had the son to ride. Some people passed and said "look at that father, spoiling his son rotten. His son is young and strong and should be walking while the father rides!"The father then got on with his son. Some more people passed and said"my LORD!Look at that.2 healthy strong men riding one poor horse, thats inhumane!they should be shot!"They got off and began to walk. Some more people passed and said"how stupid, such a fine healthy animal and theyre both walking".With that said the father and son both picked up the horse and began to carry it to town. The moral of this story is all the people had opinions. When it comes to doing what is right you base it on fact not peoples feelings about it.If the USA is doing whats right then screw the rest of the world, if we are doing wrong then we should repent and do right. The governemnt under clinton complained all the time about saddam husseing, and seeing that clinton was too gutless to remove him , the democrats want to b#$%^ about conservatives removing him.We CAN win this war, but the only way we will do it is to make a stable ally out of iraq then head into iran, syria and stomp the daylights out of those terrorists before we become casualties of their agenda which is to "islamize" the world. Now if you wish to convert to islam, this WILL apease them and then you will have to decide which sect you are in and kill all the others while killing the infidels which is anyone who isnt in your sect, namely the rest of the world. You may be required to be a suicide martyr.
