I go to high school and I own a Creative Zen VM and I take it to school almost every day. One day, at the end of school everyone was at their lockers as well as my Creative Zen. I was in a rush to get to my bus because i was running a little lat for, so i rushed and threw everything in my bag. When I got on the bus, i unzipped my backpack to notice that my Creative Zen was gone! I was worried and asked some people about it. One of my friends said he knew who had it. He told me that this kid who was sort of a trouble maker found it in front of my locker and that he sold it to another sort of trouble maker kid for twenty bucks. I PAID TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS FOR THAT THING!!! My question is, 1) Should I ask the kid for it or go to an adult, 2) Should I have to pay him for it, and 3) If he doesn't give it to me, then who should i see about getting it back. Also, is what he did illegal if he didn't know its mine. Shouldn't he have given it to the office or someone higher up? Help me!

The person who stole it can be arrested as well as the person who bought it. I do agree that kids who are stealing should learn their lesson now before they turn into full blown adult criminals, but keep in mind that if the police get involved, they will confiscate you property to be used as "evidence" and you will probably never see it again. So ask yourself, so you want to get your creative zen back or do you want to show those kids not to steal from you again (both good, both bad).

P.S.
Even if they didn't know who it belonged to, it is still stealing and is still illegal. Go to the principal and see if they can help you out. I guess if you paid $30 for it, it would be a lot cheaper than buying a new one, but you really shouldn't have to since it was yours to begin with. I think if you tried to get it from them on your own, the kid might get rid of it so he can't get in trouble. You wouldn't want to give him a heads up.

Okay, I am so out of the loop. I was going to suggest going to the park and enjoying the scenery. LOL.

Advice: Don't take your fabo stuff to school. You will survive without it. But do report it to the school. That's about all you can do. It's gone due to ignorance on your part.

go to an adult and tell them about it. if your problem is not resolved, look up the kid at an online white pages site and track them down and go to his house and pour steering fluid over the paint finish of his parents' cars.

a good paint job is over $1000 so it should make up for your loss :)

You go and speak to your teacher about it and say you will report the matter to the police.
The finder had no right to sell it knowing full well it had an owner.
