Isolate x:
x/7 - x = -11/2 + 1/2 = -10/2 = 5
Multiply both sides by 7:
x - 7x = 7(5) = 35
-6x = 35
x = -35/6

Passing the terms with x to one side and the numbers to the other side
x-x/7 =11/2-1/2 6x/7 =10/2= 5
so x = 35/6

x / 7 - 1 / 2 = x - 11 / 2
x/7 - x - 1/2 = -11/2
-6/7x - 1/2 = -11/2
-6//7x = -11/2 + 1/2
-6//7x = -10//2
-6//7x = -5
6/7x = 5
x = 5 * (7/6)
x = 35/6

You need to get the Xs on one side, and the numbers to the other...Add 1/2 to both sides (gets rid of the -1/2 on the left) and then subtract X from both sides (gets rid of the X on the right). Once that's done, you can solve for X. Be careful with your positive and negative fractions, when you are moving things around.

x-x/7=11/2-1/2
seperate all x's oneside:
or,(7x-x)/7=(11-1)/2
or,6x/7=10/2
find x:
or,x=10*7/6*2
=35/6
