x-0.15x=1450
0.85x=1450
x=$1,705.88

to find the amount of 15%, you go

15/100=x/1450 and then you do means-extremes to find

100x=15(1450) use algebra to solve the equation

x=217.5 then you subtract x from $1450

1450-217.5=$1232.50 dollars selling price
