the internet say's it was a urban legend the internet also says that he apeared on2/9/2007 at tulsa community college for the grand opening of the new health sciences building and it also says that he is now the co-host on the weather channel tv series the climate code-the rumor started -"I was taken aback. I thought everyone was aware by now that the plucky kids' show host was tragically killed last year in a massive vinegar and baking soda explosion. Nye had reportedly performed the same experiment many times on a smaller scale without incident, but this time it produced fatal results.
I'm kidding. And so was the satirical Net newspaper The Onion when it published the "news" of Nye's passing in August 2000. Though the story was plainly tongue-in-cheek, it was apparently the source of subsequent rumors.
For the record, Mr. Nye is just fine. You can watch him on Noggin TV."

Lol!!! OMG I LOVE THAT SHOW =D. We used to watch it in Junior High, in Physical Science class!!! I LOVE THAT SHOW: INERTIA IS A PROPERTY OF MATTER. BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL T MINUS 7 SECONDS. . . . . . . BILL NYE! Ah, brings back memories. Also when I was a child i remember watching that when I'd be home from school on PBS Kids. Yeah, I heard he died. BUT! He also was just on a new show for the National Geographics show (That was a brand new show thing, so it wasn't like old in 1990 like his old shows) I wish they didnt stop making those, and Noggin pulled it off the air!!!!! =(
