Security... Unconditional love (if you fidn the right person), always having someone to talk to, to share your joys and hurt with, knowing you aren't alone to deal with the curve balls life can throw in whatever form...

Of course, there are days when you can't stand being around each other, and you need some alone time, but a good partner knows when that is, and you give each other the space you need...

Eight years now, and my partner and I are as happy together as when we first met...

We help each other through the tough times, celebrate with each other through the good times, and make time to be friends as well as partners...

I wouldn't trade him for the world!!!

I know it's not for everyone, but for me, I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

Being straight, I would find the lack of a female partner a disadvantage. If I was with a guy my size I'd have double the wardrobe, though.

Otherwise, I imagine the advantages & disadvantages are pretty much the same as in a monogamous straight relationship.

Well, he makes me feel safe. He completes me. He drives me nuts and can turn it all around with a smile. He tells me the same stories over and over again when we drive past a big tree, or an old house. He is familiar.

He is familiar, sometimes he drives me nuts on purpose. Sometimes he makes me wonder what if. What if he wasn't there, who would I be with? Would it be better, would I be richer? How could I possibly be richer than I already am? We struggle, we work hard, we have fun at it and fight about it, then we go home and close the door, and all the worries of the outside world shut off. Advantage or disadvantage, I don't know. I do know that I don't have a ring on my finger. That bothers me and frees me but not emotionally. At times I meet someone I really really want to get to bed, but I haven't yet, I know he did long ago. It wears on my at times, but life is about forgiving. I've had a lot of opportunity in my time but there is really only one that causes me to imagine, what if?

the advantages are that this is what we both want. Their is a certain security in not having to constantly be out on the prowl. It's sometimes just comfortable.
