Try saving all your change. I also put any money I have left over from the last pay period in an envelope and save that. We managed to save 1,100 for our last vacation in a year just by doing that. We would have about $20 in change every two weeks. You could also just save one dollar a day and add that to your change and leftover money fund.

well the saving of change is definately a plus but also what i do is put all my extra money on my highest limit credit card and just keep building on that, then when i see a special or discount like on the travel or hotel I go ahead and book just that specific thing there is no need to book everything at once just do it as you have the $ or as you see discounts..putting it on your cc is a good way to save on interest for a year until your ready to go...i believe also that some banks have vacation accounts that work the same as a christmas account

well I'm all to familiar with this situation. I'm 22 and have hard time saving money! I save ALL my coins! it really does add up, I don't ever pay with change, I'll break bills down so I can save the coins. Also I have 50$ out of my pay check put into a savings account and its basically for vacation or emergencies! I work two jobs and one of them is a server at a restaurant, I save All my tips and put in a safe and then all of that pay check goes to my savings! I pick up as many hours that I can and save the extra money, If I can live off of what I'm making from my regular schedule I can save the extra money from the extra hours!! GOOD LUCK, it is hard I'm not going to lie!

Start an ING savings account, put a certain amount to be deducted automatically from your account every week, biweekly or monthly, Its gone automatically from your check so you wont miss it, you'll earn better interest than the bank account, and you wont be tempted to spend it because its out of reach of your debit card.
Also look for package deals and sign up for the mousesavers newsletter, with discount codes. If you book and then a discount comes up at least 45 days before you go, odds are you can call and have it applied, also if you are flexible in your travel dates, you can save alot that way
Happy savings, we are busy doing the same for our trip in 2008

I'm saving for vacation now, also. My husband and I have always used the change jar approach. This year we're adding to the savings. We both got raises this fall and we're putting the extra money into the jar, as well. We figured we have had no problem living on last year's salary, so we just pretend we aren't making any extra money while the extra money is really being saved up.

I have three bank accounts, a checking and two saving accounts. I put all my extra money in the second saving account. I don' t have a ATM card so I have to go inside the bank to take the money out. I don't like to go inside the bank so I know I won't touch the money until my vacation.

One way that works for me is to only pay for things with bills and put all the change in a glass jar. You'll be surprised how fast money accumulated. I accumulated $200 in five months. Another good saving tip is to keep a budget and find out where you are spending money that you could be saving instead.

I like the approach of saving change, also. One additional tactic I use is to never use change to purchase anything. I always use currency in vending machines and at stores. It adds up quickly.
Additionally, we research and take advantage of discounted hotels and meals, I start about a year in advance collecting all sorts of info.
