Today's America certainly is not the country of its forefathers...
Too many people have gotten used to being a lazy mindless critic sitting in the comforts of a freedom provided to them by the lives of others!
Things have changed though, when this enemy comes for you, you wont be able to, bargain with them or agree to take their side, they don't care, they just want you DEAD!

I'll give you my honest answer as a Canadian, if their heart (self interest) is in a conflict, Americans are NOT weak willed.
Its possible they would have been better not invading Iraq and while its obvious Bush (like him or hate him) will follow through, it is likely another may well pull the american troops out and leave Iraq worse than it was under Saddam.
Still, that's not the same as an attack on the US soil.
If you doubt the U.S. in war time, feel free to check out history a bit.
Bin Laden did not understand the US at all. An attack directly on the US was 100% garanteed to awaken the wrath of a country with a very long military history.
The protesters are simply people who don't believe the war should have been waged in the first place. They certainly have the right to protest if they think their solders are dying in vain. Nothing smug about that.

I don't believe in this war and I haven't from the start. I don't believe it has anything to do with Osama bin Laden and 9-11. You can't say that the protesters are not hurt or sacrificing anything, I am sacrificing friends and relatives to this war who cannot come home because of the extended tours in Iraq. I can not be wishy-washy because I never believed this war was the right thing. To insult all liberal because of what we believe in is completely wrong, this nation is based on being able to say what you think. There was a reason that Democrats got voted in over Republicans.

I don't think that they are weak willed people, I think that they don't understand the basics to human behavior. They think that you can debate with these Islamic radicals and get them to respond civilly and of course you can’t. Every one of these radical groups are seeking power and many like them have been for generations. There is no way to get them to agree on anything they don’t want too. The only way to stop them is to put in a government that works. Of course since our form of government has made us the most powerful in the world we would naturally try to put a copy of us there, it may or may not work, but with just a very small percent of our people in this country protesting with the liberal media backing them we will never have change there or here in this country. It is sad that they don’t understand what their costing those poor people in Iraq and Afghanistan and their own fellow Americans, just like they cost the South Vietnam people and our troops in the sixties and seventies.

I dont think we are weak willed. In some cases we are, but lets not judge the 300 million across the continent by the 300 in washington. I think people are just fed up with the war in iraq. That or thier scared that they cant handle teh situation. Personally i am a supporter of teh war in Iraq, and i dont feel we should pull out until out mission is complete, which it isnt... It will take time, and if we pull out now chaos will erupt in teh region, some the democrats refuse to acknowledge.
Notice in 1993 when we pulled out of Somalia is was a Democratic Pesident, and now its mainly democrats who want to pull out of Iraq. Buch of Wussies who cant handle a fight if u ask me

The womens lib movement of the 70's and 80's has feminized the X generation male population. If we were attacked they would be too busy watching MTV and playing video games to fight back.... besides that; guns are too loud!

No, but they might be forgetful.
When the current President announced that the war in Iraq would be a very long-term effort, nobody said much in protest.
Now that he is really fulfilling his promise, the people are trying their best to make him pay...

Leaders forge the people's will. Your motives for war should be pure and on the side righteous. Also remember this:
"Victorious warriors plan to win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win. "
