does a removable cd drive in an ibm think pad fit other laptops?

i found a dvd drive for a laptop on geeks.com but it doesnt say which laptops it is for. Does one fit all? Do they all interchange? do they all plug in the same way?How do i find out i even went to the manufacturer and it does say either.

The IBMs R40 that I have do not fit the Dell laptops, latitude d505, d610, Inspiron 2500,

it all depends if it has a USB connection it should work. if not i have no idea.
