is it ok to use spermicide gel or foam whilst taking birth control pills? i take my pills regularly and i know they are about 99.9 % effective. Even though, i am still a bit paranoid in becoming pregnant, is it ok to use spermicides to make the chances of not becoming pregnant higher? and also, is it ok to use it on my 7 days of no pills?

Why would you consider this necessary? Either get more educated, or stop having sex if it makes you this paranoid.

Yes. You can use spermicide with birth control pills, it's safe. The pills contain hormones that fool your body into thinking you are already pregnant and prevents you from ovulating. A spermicide is just that, it kills sperm. They have nothing to do with the other. Spermicides don't lessen the effectiveness of the pills and you should use it on the 7 days that you are off the pills. You can even use a condom if you choose to do so and in that way you are using 3 different methods of birth control at the same time. Have fun and be safe!

I believe I have heard that you can indeed use a spermicide gel with pills. In fact, some people use condoms even with pills, to protect against disease or for stronger prevention of pregnancy. I would say yes. It couldn't hurt.

Yes, of course, you can. However, spermicide should never be used alone. You need to use a condom with them because spermicide on its own, does increase the risk of STD transmission. Birth control only prevents pregnancy, you'll need a condom to stop STD spread.

It's fine to use other protection while on the pill as long as it's not hormonal.
You're safe during your 7 days of placebos if you have been taking your pills properly.

Yes. You'll be fine. The pills will go down easier though if you drink a glass of water with them instead of just making them slippery from the gel and then swallowing hard.

its totally fine to use it a spermicide with the bcp! when your on your 7 days use a condom just to be safe.

this is in response to lavengro's comment--i hope you are a man because your comment is uuuumm not smart. Spermicide gel is not taken orally, it is taken vaginally, so yeah!!!!!! think on that.

If you are that worried. Why not just go buy some condoms. Better to be safe, than sorry.
