I just bought a 98 ford escort spirit and when I drive it is goo just fine but after I start slowing down ( put on the brakes) it bounces in the front end. I thought it was the roters but that is suppose to vibrate. Also the engine rattles in idle at the lights. Any suggestion of what I need to do would be greatful. And no I'm not trashing it. I need to get to work.

Actually it is your rotors I just had new ones put on my 1996 Chrysler Sebring. When I would brake it would feel like i was running over something...Its really not a very expensive repair I got mines done for a little over $100 for parts and labor

Could be something as simple as the tires. The belting inside may be splitting. As for the engine idling rough, have your idle sensor and map sensor checked.

its probably the rotors are out of round, and for the engine rattles, its probably the lifters ,you hear.just change the oil and use a little heavier oil.also they have stuff you can put in for noisy lifters.go to auto zone and explain to them what you need.

have your tires checked and changed plugs and wire, If this does not help it is probably the motor mount. Hey report isabel. there is a real problem there.

motor mounts may be worn, or tranny mount.open hood and try to shake engine if moves alot or noticeably mounts one or more need replaced not very expensive or hard to do yourself some tool and jack.

sounds like you have warped rotors, and a bad motor mount.
