George Bush lost the popular vote the first time around and the supreme court decided against requiring a recount of the popular vote in Florida thus thereby selecting George W Bush President. Al Gore won the popular vote.
The 2004 vote was won because the swift boaters bought the media and spread lies about a Viet Nam hero John Kerry, claiming he was a coward in spite of his winning 2 bronze medals and purple hearts. He was accused of murdering a boy by shooting him in the back. Many Republicans chose to believe the swift boaters and thus another good man had his reputation destroyed by Republican lyers.
The combat medals won by John Kerry were signed and authorized by John Warner, then Secretary of the Navy and now Republican Senator for the State of Virginia.

You asked the question, here's the answer: Because his daddy's money helped him. Because he's a puppet for the super rich and powerful that paid and pulled strings and rigged electronic voting machines (owned & operated by companies KNOWN to favor Repubs, and had/have lucrative contracts with the Federal Government) in several states (no matter who they voted for, the same outcome was rigged to come out, giving Dubya the votes) in 2004; and the many, many defective or broken voting machines in those precincts KNOWN to favor Democrats that caused long lines and delays to discourage voters. And in 2000, his brother (Governor of Florida) helped by having henchmen intimidating those in precincts known to vote Democrat, and those same precincts had an unusual amount of broken and defective voting machines that caused long lines and long delays for people to cast their votes... a means to discourage people. Also, the many hundreds of boxes that went uncounted, including those from the Service men and women that were not counted.
Disgraceful behavior for ANY person calling himself an American! He's nothing more than a puppet for Halliburten and other super rich and powerful companies that are now getting paid by way of those ridiculous over-charges and over-billing that the government doesn't question or look into but pays out these ridiculous fees to, and not one solitary government employee DARES voice a complaint because they're all spineless eunuchs!
PLEASE tell your teachers to teach you grammar. You exemplify the idiotic mentality that prevails in the Repub Party, fanatical lemmings that repeat slogans and nonsensical propaganda like mindless sheep!

Again for the fools who continue to say he was elected in 2000. He was appointed by the Florida State Supreme Court because the people they hired couldn't decipher hanging chads. A State btw - that just happens to have and had his brother Jeb as it's State Governor.
And yes they allowed defective electronic voting machines placed in strategic locations to assure another "mishap" during the 2004 elections. No paper-trail to assure accurate counting and correct information to proper candidate.
Cheaters and liars will most always get what they want if they want it bad enough.

Bush is smarter than Kerry based on Yale University grade point average. Bush beat Algore because Algore couldn't carry his own state. We wouldn't have had the election fiasco in Florida if the people who know him best (his home state) had not rejected Algore.

He is president because the election was decided in his favor.
Part of that was due to good political campaign managers.
Part of that was because many people had faith in him.
Part was allegedly becauase of fraudulent election practices.
None of those require any intelligence on his part.
