I always push the button and hold the ice and then go get a cup....am i just an idiot?

what an idiot! (just idding, UR NOT!)
well, i'm different, i get the cup fill it up with water or whatever and THEN put in the ice cubes.

I do that sometimes, but only if the cup is too big to fit in the dispenser slot.
