Digestion. You start with a big bite. Then you chew it up into little chunks and mix it with saliva (which contains enzymes that break carb chains) next you swallow it and food ends up in an acid bath (your stomach) wherein more enzymes, acid and churning occurs..it goes on through the small intestine then the big intestine and out the dirty place....

Digestion. The chemical reaction is known as hydrolysis, the addition of water (in the presence of enzymes) results in the breakdown of macromolecules into their building blocks: carbohydrates into simple sugars; proteins into amino acids, etc.
