Are computer monitors interchangeable?
I gave my Aunt my old computer, but she wanted to keep her monitor, which is from the mid 90's, because it is smaller. However she says that the computer constantly freezes up. I took the computer home to try to fix it, and it worked perfectly. Is the cause of this the monitor, or am I overlooking something?

This computer is not hooked up to the internet, but is in th same room as their security system. Couldthe Security system be causing some kind of interference?

Hello Mandy

I am correct in understanding that you have asked this question or similar within the last week. I am very sorry that you have not received the answer you require.

The answer to your question is:

Most lcd (liquid crystal display) monitors are indeed compatible with systems, however you did mention it is an very old screen,

This is irrelevant, I have looked into the matter, and the type of screen display and monitor are in fact interchangeable and should not effects the systems performance.

The fact that you are not connected to the Internet rules out virus and spy ware.

I also doubt that the security system will effect the system.

All I can suggest is the method of use your aunt is using. I would inform her of correct methods of using the system.

I hope this helps.

Computers and security systems are well shielded to prevent interference. Possible, not probable. I think the monitor is a CRT one like a TV. If the connectors mate they are compatible. The best check is to take your Aunt's monitor. Hook it up to another computer. Watch its behaviour, I think that's the problem.
