Someone should probably learn to flush.... The alkalinity is because urea breaks down into carbon monoxide and ammonia, and ammonia is a base. I don't think urine of healthy people is supposed to turn cloudy, but cloudy just indicates something is precipitating. Maybe they're drinking a lot of salt, or soft drinks containing phosphates, which are not very soluble.
