Because she wouldn't have been relevant as a Senator from Arkansas(sorry Arkansans). She needed to be a Senator from a high profile state if she was going to realize her aspirations of becoming President.

I don't think Hillary thinks she's a yank (although I think she's originally from Illinois). New York politics is a stepping stone to higher office. Robert Kennedy was born and raised in Massachusetts, but he had the exact same job as Mrs. Clinton; U.S. Senator from the State of New York.

She was born in Chicago and was brought up in the Chicago suburb of Park Ridge. The last time I looked Midwesterners were Yankees. At least all my Alabama relatives tell me so. I live a short drive from there myself. She does us proud in my opinion, and she's getting my vote.
