I never used to watch basketball, but I have been watching some of the NCAA games and I really like it. It's a sport that I have never had much interest for, but I really like it now that I have watched some of the game's. The only problem is that I don't understand everything that the commentators are talking about, and I still don't understand how the whole NCAA system works. Do teams from the West region play teams from the East, or are they completely separate until the final game in Atlanta? Also how does the NCAA brackets work? How do people know which teams to choose when they fill them out, even if the teams haven't played? I'm 15 and the only sport I have been involved with is soccer, so I would like to get more involved with basketball.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can understand it better, or is it too late now because I’m 15? Most kids I know that like basketball, have been involved with it since they young.

Well, i don't play basketball but i can do tell you that no matter how old you are, it is never late to get involved in any sport. As long as you enjoy it, you will automatically get answers to your questions and probably go ahead and take it as your profession, although its better if you're young...but its not a problem. It all depends on your choice and determination.

Thats all i can say!!!

Its never too late to start a new sport. Tim Duncan did not play til college. Just go to a local gym and shoot around. Maybe play some 2 on 2 or smaller games with other friends. You will need to practice a lot to make up ground you have lost since you are starting late. Watch college games and see some of the stuff they run. Watch the guys who would play the position you would play. You can learn a lot. You actually sound a lot like me. Soccer player going to play bball late.

To answer your March Madness questions, it is like 4 seperate smaller brackets. Each has 16 teams where 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, etc... Eventually the winner from each bracket gets to the "Final Four" where they play for a right in the championship game.

Filling out a bracket is easy. It takes some research but most of it is very simple. It is always smart to take the 1,2,and 3 seeds, they almost never lose first. Then after that just use instinct. It takes some skill(and a lot of luck) but its a fun time of year.

Well i play basketball and its a pretty easy sport to understand once you start to play it. You really need to understand the rules and things to the game or else its gonna be really hard. Yes the teams from the east do play the west. They pick the teams in the bracket based on their rank throughout the state, then the region, they pick from i think the top ten teams, they pay against each other and it goes on from their. No it is definitely not to late to play, but if your gonna try-out for a school you might want to understand the sport and grow to eat, sleep, and breathe it. It doesn't matter about the kids that have played since they were young, that doesn't make them any better than you, just learn the rules play with some friends and learn to enjoy the game and then you will be able to play successfully.

No, it is definitely not to late to start playing. In case you didnt know the NCAA basketball league is college and the NBA is professional. A good idea to understand some of the basics is to look them up online and what also really helps is to just keep watching the games. It is really easy to catch on to the rules. In the NCAA there are different groupings of teams in relation to where they are located. For example, there is the PAC 10 which consists of the best teams on the West Coast and in Arizona. However, the teams from different groupings will meet in tournaments and playoffs. It doesn't matter how long you have been playing. My friend just started playing a year ago and is on the Varsity team at my school.
Go For It! and have fun!

if you want to be on your high school team, it's probably too late now unless you talk to the coach about it and hes extremely generous or you play for the first time and are extremely talented at it. as for learning the game and watching it on t.v., you can still learn about that all you want. i love watching MLB (Major League Baseball) and my favorite team is the yankees even though they've been doing bad in the past few years. just search up baseball in google or wikipedia and you will get a ton of information on the sport, especially if you search it up on wikipedia. wow im an @s$hole i thought you were talking about baseball this whole time and now i realixe you meant basketball haha. anyway whatever i daid about baseball applies to basketball except that college basketball is better then pro basketball.

It is never, ever, ever too late. No way. I didn't seriously get into the game until my brother started to play middle school ball (I was 16) and we'd practice out in the driveway.

Now I never went pro or played college ball, but I've had a great time in rec leagues, coaching in leagues, and playing in men's leagues throughout college. Great fun.

Get into it first by buying a ball and finding a hoop to shoot on. IF you have one at home, even better. If not, ask for one. I reckong your parents would be pretty happy to buy you one...a nice, outside hobby.

Just work on the game. Play whenever you can. And don't get discouraged. Play guys who are better than you and when they school you try to learn how and why they did. That's how you get better.

Good luck, dude. Hope you get into it!
