There has been an extensive recall on pet food for dogs and cats like Ekanubu and Iams and many more ...did you know? Do you think our pets are safe?

Our pets are NOT safe . . . and neither are WE.

In the US, we have a complete breakdown of standards and practices as regards food safety. I think we should ban mass-produced foods and only approve regional production and distribution from facilities that meet sanitary standards from start--in the field--to finish.

European countries and even second-world countries have much safer food systems than we do, because they haven't allowed agriculture megabusinesses to take over their food production and distribution processes.

So, I only eat beef when I'm in Argentina, I buy vegetables from my local farmers' markets, and I try in every way possible to make my food from scratch and to buy organic, locally produced foodstuffs.

As for the poor pets, I recommend making your own dog and cat food. You can freeze it in ice cube trays and defrost as needed.

Go to www.menufoods.com and check the recall list.

The dry food is unaffected, just the wet.

If you have any of the brands listed, then you need to check your label to see if it was created during that time period.

The date code (4 digit) and Plant Code (4197) appear on the label in a string with a space separating them.

The date code range is 6339-7073. So in essence, a bad code that you would see is

6401 4197

I was really surprised. Someone else posted a question like this earlier and that was the first I heard about it. I'm so glad both my dogs have two differnt kinds of food and neither of them are on the list.
