Can I tell by finding it somewhere like 'My Computer'? I have Windows XP on a Dell computer. I'm trying to compare the speed of my computer to a laptop I am looking to buy, so in other words: Is 1.6 GHz (the laptop speed) fast? I'm not a real computer expert, so I need some tips please! :-) Thanks

Click on the start button, right click "My Computer" and at the bottom of the drop down list click properties. The computers speed will be displayed towards the bottom of the the window that opens.
My laptop is fast at 1.66 GHz but it has two processors, Dual Core, at this speed.

Click on Start and then click on Run.
On the Run dialog box, type in: dxdiag
Click on Ok.
A dialog box will appear. Just click on Ok.
The Direct Diagnostic Tool will appear. It actually contains your System Information (RAM, Processor, date and time, computer name, OS).
To determine the GHz of your computer, you can look on the Processor.
