Its Ok - You just wore down the rear drum shoes a bit. Does the emergency still hold? Does the car brake normal without noise/pulling to the left/right then If so No worries.
You can get it checked out if you want piece of mind but I'd save the money

no doubt it's still drivable,u r advised to change the brake pads(4 wheels) 4 safety in case of real emergency brake.30 mins drive with the brake on is considered quite serious damaged on the pads that's y u smelled burnt rubber.take care.

You shouldnt smell burnt rubber, maybe burnt brakes. Just let the car cool down for a half hour or so, and drive it. it should be fine. Check your pads in the morning to see how much damage was done, make sure you have enough meat on them still.

i would be checking the brake shoes out first.30 minutes is a long time.they are probably burnt up by now.and besides, thats not very good on the drums either.

Its drivable, straight to the garage. Your friend wore the breaks down. Be safe and get it checked out ASAP. It will be costly you know. Try to get your friend to pay at least half the bill. He should!

Most likely your friend ruined the reat shoes on your Civic if
that is what you have. the shoes will be heat cracked and the
drums will be overheated.... it is possible you may not notice
anything different when you drive your car but a visual inspection will reveal if there is any actual damage which most likely occured....

i own a repair shop, and one thing is for sure you will have to put rear brakes on it after this, because that was enough to ruin the rear ones, the first 5 minutes got those,,it wont stop as good now as it did ,i think id ask him to help with buying them, but they will have to be replaced and the back drums turned on it,good luck, hope this helps.
