Everyone here has said running, but I actually think the fitness aspect is less important than skill with the ball when you are learning how to play. In youth soccer, you can substitute a player out when he gets tired.

The number one thing you could do is get familiar with your touch on the ball. Go into your back yard and just dribble around with the ball. Get comfortable dribbling at a run. Practice juggling the ball (Kicking it up over and over again without the ball hitting the ground.) Find yourself a wall somewhere that you could kick the ball against and practice hitting it and then trapping it. Basically you want to have as much footskill on the ball as possible.

The fitness can come later if you are willing to work hard in practice, right now work on being skilled with the ball. Any coach who sees good touch on the ball will notice you right away.

Well, I think the best way to get fit and ready for summer is to run, everyday. I mean, start simple, and work your way up to getting more endurance everyday. Oh, another thing that my team does a lot is the ladder. So if you just worked with a ladder and on the fast foot work, I think you would be more than ready. good luck!

Start runing every day for atleas 30 minutes so you could be used to it when you start playing for the Team and also try on studing moves and practice them. That's what I do I play as a Goalkeeper and I'm getting better every day because I practise as much as I can and it helps a lot.

theres nothing else to say that these guys havent said already, but whats more important than getting fit is to gain confidence. when you have the ball and some big fat chick is coming towards you, it takes guts, self esteem and brains to not run away screaming. oh yeah and run a lot! you cant do what you need to do when youre dying for breath!
