Don't listen to the other responses who say no. When I was young, I sent Curtis Joseph a letter and he sent me back an autographed picture. I still have it and it was more than 10 years ago.

You should be fine as long as you sent your letter to the right addresses (you can find it on their team webpages, it's usually to the stadiums C.O. the person).

Athletes might be spoiled and overpayed, but they tend to be very good to their fans. I've met Roberto Luongo and Wade Redden in person and they were both extremely nice and willing to give me autographs.

Don't expect anything right away though, they're probably very busy, playoff time is coming up...

It really depends on the players themselves. Some players have no problem autographing for you while others won't even open the envelope. The main thing to realize is that it takes time. They won't treat their mail like we do with ours. It may be a whole year before you get one back but when you do, it will be worth the wait. One thing you should remember is to be courteous and polite. Try to include an envelope with a stamp on it so that they can easily use that to mail it back to you. Also, try to include a nice note saying hi but don't make it too long. Hopefully you'll hear from them down the road! GOOD LUCK!

It all depends. You will hear back from them, so don't listen to anyone telling you that you won't hear from them, especially if you sent the letters to the players through the team. However, some teams and players don't do too much of the sending out of autographed pictures to fans because they can be jerks sometimes. But, they will get back to you and let you know either way. You will hear back from them. You have to be patient here, especially with the hockey teams since their regular season ends in three weeks and then they begin playoffs. But, they will get back to you, and you will either receive your requested autographs, or you will receive a letter from the team saying that they wouldn't give out stuff like that. If you get any of those letters, don't feel discouraged my young friend, some organizations just like to receive money for their stuff, but others enjoy sending free pictures and autographs through the mail. The problem is that we, as fans, are not sure which one our team(s) will do, so it is better to take a chance on sending them requests for this kind of stuff because you just never know, you might actually get what you asked for. In short, you will hear back from them, just give them time, but you might not get what you want from all of them, but you should get something from some of them.

Absolutely! I have a whole home office FULL of NHL autographs that I've been collecting since about 1985. Just make sure you send to the correct address, as someone else mentioned, it's usually the player's name in c/o the team address.

Several years ago I wrote to Curtis Joseph and I got a reply back aplogizing that he ran out of pictures and would send one as soon as he got more made up. And sure enough, about a month later I got an autographed picture of him.

Besides him the other one that sticks in my mind is Bryan Berard. He sent a picture and 4 rookie cards, all signed.

Anyway, good luck!

If you get a response back from a player, it will likely be after their season is over because we are approaching the playoffs.

I think that you will get a response from some of the players. You are more likely to get a response if you send them an item to autograph and include an envelope with your return address on it (with postage). This makes it easier for the players to respond and therefore increases your chances.

Hockey players are among the nicest, most personable athletes in professional sports. Ever notice how during an interview when the reporter says "thank you," the player almost always says "thank YOU" right back?

I've worked with sports reporters, and they say that of the four major pro sports, hockey players are the nicest and most approachable. They try very hard to win fans.

I wouldn't be surprised if you got something back from them, we'll see!

It's possible youll get some autographs back. If you repeatedly send some guys request they will eventually get sick of reading the letters and send you one. I got a Patrick Roy autograph that way. My favorite piece of memorabilia.

I hate when unifomred people give bad advice. You most certainly can autographs back, you just need to know who to write to.

I run a Sports Autograph community with over 16,000 members who have gotten collectively 300,000+ responses with autographs from professional athletes. You should check it out:
